I send my deepest condolences to the family of my close friend, MP Amino Mohamed Abdi, who was tragically assassinated on the night of 23rd March 2022 in Beledweyne, Somalia.

Amino was a beacon of strength and positivity. She tirelessly fought against corruption, extremism, and injustices, always standing up for the voiceless, regardless of race or background. Her unwavering commitment to the rights of women, the oppressed, and the marginalised will forever be remembered.

The events at Aden Adde International Airport and Beledweyne that dark day are a painful reminder of the ongoing threats facing those who stand for truth and justice. We will not rest until those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable.

Now, more than ever, we must come together as one for peace and prosperity in Somalia.
