I recently had the distinct privilege of addressing a high-profile roundtable discussion at the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) Africa Congress, held in Praia, Cape Verde. The Congress brought together esteemed African leaders, ministers, diplomats, and leadership experts from across the globe to engage in constructive dialogue on the future of Africa.
One of the most significant highlights of the event was the formal inclusion of the Alliance for the Future Party – Xisbiga Isbahaysiga Mustaqbalka – into the CDI family. This was a crucial milestone for Somalia, a nation that has long faced political instability and conflict. It marks the beginning of international recognition for Somalia’s democratic aspirations and represents a commitment to advancing democracy and stability across the African continent.
As a leader who has tirelessly championed democracy and political reform in Somalia, I felt it was essential to use this platform to address the urgent issues affecting the Horn of Africa and Somalia. During the roundtable, I reflected on the geopolitical situation in our region, highlighting the critical challenges we face, including political instability, extremism, and economic hardship. However, I also took the opportunity to share my party’s vision for Somalia – one rooted in democracy, peace, and economic prosperity.
I strongly believe that Somalia’s future lies in embracing democratic principles and working alongside international and regional partners to foster long-term stability. The inclusion of the Alliance for the Future Party in the CDI family not only paves the way for Somalia’s recognition on the global stage but also sets a powerful example for peaceful political engagement in the region.
I remain committed to advancing the cause of democracy and reforms in Somalia and to working with all stakeholders to ensure a brighter future for our nation.
