Our Chairman
Abshir Aden Ferro
Somalia, dear Somalia. When I hear your name and see your flag flutter, I get a new lease of life!”
Abshir Aden Ferro represents a new generation of African leadership – visionary, international, and committed to transformation. A multicultural statesman with a global outlook, he is unwavering in his mission to restore Somalia’s security, eradicate corruption, and position our nation as a formidable and respected force on the world stage.
Respected by world leaders, international organisations, and business communities alike, Abshir never set out to pursue elected office. But when Somalia’s call for help became undeniable, he answered with decisive action.
Fuelled by an unyielding pursuit of justice to give a voice to the voiceless, he has dedicated his life to forging a future defined by stability, prosperity, and national unity. With expertise spanning security, finance, and international diplomacy, he has worked tirelessly to rebuild Somalia’s institutions, recognising that true transformation begins with security and accountability. For instance, without Abshir and XIM, Somalia would not be striding into the future with a one-man, one-vote electoral system – Abshir was the only person willing to speak up for the voiceless and challenge the unfair, unjust, and exclusive voting system in Somalia.
Born in Mogadishu in 1968, Abshir’s early life was shaped by his experiences and education across Somalia, France, Britain, and the United Arab Emirates. Raised with an unshakable commitment to justice, discipline, and service, he was profoundly influenced by his mother – a pillar of strength who instilled in him the values of excellence, order, and security.
Having witnessed firsthand the devastation wrought by corruption and instability, Abshir is resolute in his mission to restore Somalia’s future. His commitment is unwavering: to build a nation where leadership is synonymous with integrity, where security is non-negotiable, and where every Somali has a stake in the country’s resurgence. He almost single-handedly
Often compared to the legendary actor Yul Brynner, Abshir is a figure of international trust and respect. His deep understanding of economics and finance stems from his experience managing hedge funds and companies on the stock market. His expertise in security is shaped by years of high-profile roles in both official and private sector security, military service, and intelligence work.
As Chairman of the Alliance for the Future (XIM), Abshir is leading a bold movement to dismantle corruption, restore law and order, and build a Somalia that is tolerant, religiously and ethnically diverse, and self-reliant. Under his leadership, Somalia’s renaissance is not a distant dream – it is an imminent reality.
About the Alliance for the Future (XIM)
Founded by Abshir Ferro in 2019, the Alliance for the Future (XIM) exists to do what others will not: reclaim the promise of Somalia.

FAQs
How can I join or support XIM?
Joining XIM is easy – and powerful. Whether you’re in Mogadishu, London, Nairobi, or Minneapolis, you can be part of this movement. Change doesn’t come from the sidelines. It comes from standing up and saying: I believe in the promise of Somalia.
What is XIM and why was it created?
The Alliance for the Future (XIM) was founded by Abshir Ferro in 2019 to reclaim the promise of Somalia. For decades, Somalia has suffered from war, corruption, and political failure. XIM exists to change that. We’re building a Somalia where safety, opportunity, and justice are rights for every citizen – not privileges for a few. With more than 1.2 million followers from all regions and clans, we are a national movement for real change. XIM is not about the past. We are the architects of a new Somalia: secure, prosperous, honest, and united. Our mission is bold, but our people are ready – and so are we.
Who is Abshir Aden Ferro?
Abshir Aden Ferro is the founder and chairman of XIM – a leader with global experience and a deep commitment to Somalia. Born in Mogadishu in 1968 and raised across Europe and the Middle East, he blends international expertise with patriotic passion. With a background in finance, security, and diplomacy, Abshir has earned the respect of world leaders and Somalis alike. He didn’t seek power – but answered Somalia’s call for help with action. Renowned for his integrity and drive, he is leading a national movement to restore security, defeat corruption, and build a Somalia defined by justice, unity, and opportunity.
What does ‘Reclaim the Promise of Somalia’ mean?
It means restoring Somalia to the country we know it can be – strong, united, peaceful, and respected. For too long, the promise of our nation has been stolen by warlords, extremists, and corrupt leaders. But Somalia is not broken. Its spirit – resilient, proud, and ambitious – lives on. XIM’s mission is to translate that spirit into action: to fight corruption, rebuild security, and create a future where every Somali has a voice and a role. It’s not just a slogan – it’s a call to action for every Somali who still believes in the potential of our homeland.
Is XIM a clan-based party?
No. XIM is a national movement that rejects clan-based politics. We believe Somalia must rise beyond division and build a future where unity is our strength. Clan rivalries have held Somalia back for decades – serving only those who benefit from instability. XIM has over 1.2 million followers from every clan, region, and background. We are united not by lineage, but by purpose: to create a Somalia that works for everyone. Our goal is one Somalia – peaceful, inclusive, and proud of its diversity. We believe real change will only come when the people join together, not when they are kept apart.
What makes XIM different from other political parties?
XIM is not just another party – it’s a transformative movement in Somalia and Africa. While others have profited from corruption and fear, XIM is built on hope, justice, and action. We are fighting to end terrorism, rebuild broken institutions, and empower all Somalis. Our policies focus on jobs, education, healthcare, and self-reliance – not dependency. We are democratic, anti-corruption, and people-first. With real experience in governance, finance, and security, our leadership brings vision and accountability. XIM is here to serve the people – not the powerful. If you’re tired of empty promises and politics as usual, XIM is your movement.
What is Abshir Ferro’s background in security?
Abshir Ferro has extensive experience in global and national security. He has served in both official and private roles, including military and intelligence work. His understanding of terrorism and how to fight it comes from years of hands-on engagement. Abshir is also deeply involved in efforts to build secure institutions in fragile environments. His belief is simple: without law and order, there is no peace. His leadership in XIM reflects this – placing security and justice at the heart of Somalia’s future. He’s not just talking about safety – he’s made it his life’s work.
How does XIM plan to tackle corruption?
XIM is committed to ending corruption – not just talking about it. We will build institutions that work for the people, not elites. That means transparent government spending, independent audits, and strict accountability for public officials. We will empower courts to act without interference, shut down the misuse of aid, and ensure taxpayer money goes where it’s meant to. Corruption is not just theft – it’s the root of radicalisation, inequality, and poverty. XIM is the only party with a plan to dismantle the systems that have allowed corruption to thrive and replace them with systems of justice and service.
What is XIM’s position on terrorism and Al Shabaab?
XIM believes terrorism must be defeated before Somalia can truly develop. Groups like Al Shabaab are funded by corruption and instability – they thrive when there is no law, no order, and no opportunity. XIM will choke off their funding by ending the flow of taxpayer money and international aid that falls into the wrong hands. We will restore our security services, rebuild trust in government, and create economic alternatives for vulnerable youth. This is a fight for Somalia’s soul – and XIM is ready to win it, not with slogans, but with bold, decisive, and relentless action.
How will XIM create jobs for young people?
Job creation is at the core of XIM’s plan for national renewal. We will invest in key sectors like agriculture, livestock, fishing, energy, and manufacturing to unlock Somalia’s economic power. Education and vocational training will prepare young people for the future, while small businesses and entrepreneurs will be supported through funding, mentorship, and fair regulation. A working Somalia is a thriving Somalia – and under XIM, we will build an economy that benefits its people, not outside profiteers. Every young Somali deserves a future filled with opportunity, not instability or fear.
What does XIM mean by ‘One Somalia’?
‘One Somalia’ means a united, sovereign nation where every region and community shares in the country’s success. Division has weakened us – serving only those who benefit from conflict. XIM believes unity is the foundation for peace, growth, and global respect. Every Somali, from north to south, must have access to infrastructure, education, healthcare, and jobs. We respect dialogue and regional autonomy, but never at the cost of national unity. Somalia was strongest when it stood together – and XIM is working to make that true again. Together, we rise.
What is XIM’s approach to women’s rights?
XIM believes Somalia cannot succeed without women at the heart of national life. Women have carried Somalia through its darkest times – now they must lead us into the future. We will fight for equal representation, economic opportunity, and social inclusion for all women. From voting rights to leadership roles, XIM will ensure women are not just protected, but empowered. In Islam, women are honoured as equals, and in Somali history, they have shaped our destiny. Under XIM, that legacy will continue – because a stronger Somalia begins with stronger women.
How will XIM improve Somalia’s healthcare system?
Healthcare is a national priority under XIM. After years of neglect, our system must be rebuilt from the ground up. We will invest in hospitals, train and retain healthcare professionals, and ensure every Somali can access affordable, quality care. Reducing maternal and child mortality is urgent, as is providing better infrastructure and medical transport. XIM also believes in building local capacity – so we’ll encourage Somali professionals abroad to come home and help lead our health revolution. With international partnerships and homegrown leadership, Somalia will become a nation that heals its people.
What does XIM believe about education?
Education is the cornerstone of Somalia’s future. XIM will ensure every child, no matter their background, has access to quality schooling. We will reduce overcrowded classrooms, support teachers, and expand Qur’anic and vocational training. Over three million children are currently out of school – this is unacceptable. Under XIM, education will become a right, not a privilege. We believe an educated generation is Somalia’s greatest asset. Our goal is to raise citizens who are not just literate, but empowered to lead, innovate, and build a stronger, more peaceful nation.
How will XIM make Somalia self-reliant?
Somalia is rich in resources – agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and minerals – but decades of mismanagement have left us dependent. XIM will end this. We will revive rivers, modernise farming, and export proudly under the label ‘Grown in Somalia.’ We’ll stop exploitation, both foreign and domestic, and make sure our wealth serves our people. Self-reliance doesn’t mean isolation – it means having the strength to stand on our own feet. Somalia has the potential to feed itself, fuel its economy, and lead the region. XIM is ready to unlock that potential.
Is XIM committed to democracy?
Yes. XIM stands for one person, one vote. We believe every Somali has the right to choose their leaders and shape their future – regardless of clan or background. That’s why we are committed to ending the outdated 4.5 system, which has divided our people and denied many their voice for too long. We will replace it with a universal vote that reflects the true will of the people. Somalia deserves a multi-party, inclusive democracy where institutions are accountable and power is earned through service, not privilege. With over 1.2 million supporters, XIM is leading the way toward fair elections, free from corruption and clan politics. Our people, our future, deserve nothing less.
What is XIM’s global vision for Somalia?
Somalia must engage the world as a partner – not a victim. XIM will restore our international standing by fighting corruption, defending sovereignty, and building partnerships that benefit our people. We’ll demand fair treatment, protect our resources, and sit at global decision-making tables – not on the sidelines. Somalia should be respected like any other strong, self-sufficient nation. From agriculture to diplomacy, we will shape our own future – and proudly represent our interests on the world stage.
