This cause remains close to my heart, and it is one that I have shared in my manifesto My Life for Somalia.

For over three decades, women have borne the heaviest burden of war and instability. Through resilience, courage, and sacrifice, they have held our country together in the face of immense challenges. If Somalia is to rise again and overcome the shadows of conflict, women must be at its heart.

Women are not just contributors to Somali society – they are its foundation. Their leadership, sacrifices, and pivotal roles in shaping our nation’s destiny have been undeniable. Yet, far too often, their voices are absent from the decisions that determine our future. The XIM Party is committed to changing this. We envision a Somalia where every woman’s potential is realised, and where no one is left behind.
Our platform prioritises the empowerment of women, not just as a matter of justice but as an essential ingredient for national development and peace. We believe that a just Somalia is one where liberty, equality, and opportunity extend to all – especially to the women who are raising our next generation. They stand at the front lines not only as mothers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders but also as the key to ending terrorism and building a peaceful, prosperous future. Their economic empowerment, political participation, and social inclusion will be the bedrock upon which we will build a thriving Somalia.
In Islam, women are the most important people in our lives – the twin halves of men. Somalia has long recognised this truth, granting women the right to vote before even nations like Switzerland. This spirit of progress, of recognising the inherent worth of women, must guide us once again as we push forward into a new era of equality and opportunity.
