Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Somalis, wherever you are in the world. Today we honour the spirit of freedom, unity, and resilience that defines us as a people. On this important day, we raise our national flag high and reflect on the struggles, sacrifices and dreams that brought us to this moment in history.

The blue and white of our flag stands not only as a symbol of our nation, but as a testament to our shared hope for a better tomorrow. It reminds us of the strength of our ancestors and the courage of all those who continue to fight for peace, dignity and opportunity in Somalia.

As we celebrate, we must also remember those who are still facing hardship. For them, and for the generations to come, we must continue the journey toward a more just and prosperous future. Independence is not only about a date in history – it is about the ongoing commitment to building a nation that reflects the hopes of its people.

No matter how far we are from home, we remain united by our roots, our culture, and our vision for a peaceful Somalia. Let this day renew our pride and our purpose. Let it remind us that change is not only possible, but necessary – and within reach if we stand together.

To all Somalis around the globe, I send you my heartfelt congratulations. May this Independence Day strengthen our unity, revive our hope, and inspire us to push forward with dignity and determination.
