Thank you to the people of Senegal for the incredibly warm welcome. I am honoured to join the Dakar International Forum, a vital platform devoted to peace and security across the Horn of Africa and the wider continent.
At a time when our region faces growing challenges – from political instability to terrorism and economic hardship – forums like this are more important than ever. They offer a space for genuine dialogue, shared learning, and bold action.
As Chair of the Alliance for the Future Party, I believe unity and regional cooperation must be our guiding principles. We cannot address security in Somalia without working alongside our neighbours. We cannot build peace without confronting the root causes of conflict – inequality, corruption, and the erosion of trust in leadership.
This is a moment for African voices to lead the way. Africa’s strength lies in its diversity, resilience, and untapped potential. But we must move beyond slogans and statements. We need partnerships that deliver real results, empower communities, and reinforce the values of justice, dignity, and accountability.
My message in Dakar is clear: Somalia stands ready to be part of the solution. We want to build bridges, not walls. We are committed to restoring stability, championing democratic values, and giving our young people the future they deserve.
Let this forum be more than a discussion. Let it be the beginning of renewed solidarity between our nations. Together, we can pave the way for a peaceful and secure Africa.
