My dear compatriots,
For many of you, the past year has been marked by hardship, tragedy and loss. We have endured challenges that have tested our strength and shaken our hopes. Yet despite this difficult reality – known all too well by those in the highest levels of our government – I want to offer a message of hope as we step into a new year.
As both an ordinary citizen and a politician, I believe the time has come to turn the page on division and discord. We must set aside quarrels and come together around one table, united by our shared love for Somalia and our deep desire to see our nation at peace.
The way forward is clear. We must organise free and democratic elections without delay. These elections must be based on a popular ballot, where every Somali citizen can vote and every vote truly counts. This is the only path to establishing real political legitimacy and restoring Somalia’s credibility on the world stage.
We cannot rebuild trust without the voice of the people. True leadership comes not from force or fear, but from the mandate of a free and fair election. This is what our people deserve, and this is what we must deliver.
I also want to express my deepest gratitude to the 800,000 Somalis who have joined the Alliance for the Future Party. Your support fills me with pride and responsibility. Together, we are building a movement based on unity, renewal and progress.
As we welcome the new year, I pray the Most High blesses each and every one of you and brings lasting peace to our beloved Somalia.
Happy New Year 2022.
