It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences, on behalf of myself and the Alliance for the Future Party (Xisbiga Isbahaysiga Mustaqbalka), to the families of the international peacekeepers and civilians who tragically lost their lives at the Ceel Baraf base on 3rd May. Our thoughts are also with those who were injured or captured during this horrifying act of violence.
The people of Somalia are deeply grateful for the bravery and dedication shown by these peacekeepers, particularly those from Burundi, who have stood at the front lines to safeguard peace and security in our country. Their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and we will forever honour their memory.
The work of the African Union peacekeepers has been instrumental in the ongoing efforts to restore stability to Somalia, and the loss of these courageous individuals is a stark reminder of the challenges we still face. These peacekeepers have worked tirelessly, often in the most difficult and dangerous circumstances, to ensure a safer future for the people of Somalia.
The Alliance for the Future Party remains steadfast in our commitment to supporting peace efforts, not just for Somalia, but for all those who have worked to ensure peace in our region. We stand united in the belief that we must continue to build a safe and peaceful Somalia for future generations. The memory of these fallen heroes will always inspire us in this vital mission.
As we reflect on this tragic loss, let us not forget the immense sacrifices made by those who came to our aid. Our gratitude for their dedication will never fade, and we pledge to honour their legacy by continuing the work they began.
